YESSS!

OK I totally have a lot to do... like packing and cleaning, but I'm taking a break!
I've decided that for my birthday I want to go see the New Harry Potter Movie... GOBLET OF FIRE! It comes out like 2 days after my birthday, and I want tickets (hint hint... family and friends) soooo bad! I'm really excited about this one because it was my favorite book so far (well I still haven't read number 6, so it might change) because it's soooo adventurous and a huge story unfolds out of it unlike in the other books. I decided to support Cedric for the Triwizard Tournament... I think that besides Harry (who everyone's supporting) he was noble and humble. Here's to you, Ced! Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Check out the trailer! It's so exciting!!!!!!

Holla to all you other HP freaks. Who are you going to support for the tournament: Harry, Fleur, Cedric, or Viktor? And, who's going to the movie with me opening night? PARTAY!

Busy busy bee!

Hey friends! Well it's been a busy weekend, full of many exciting activities. Last night I had a sleep over with Jayme, Tygre, and Lesley! We needed Milli there to make the wedding party complete, but she couldn't come. Anyways, we always go swimming at Lesley's dad's apartments, and we get there and it's LOCKED! I mean, it wasn't even 10 o clock and they never lock the pool ever! I figured it's because we got kicked out of the pool 3 days before (I think we were a little loud.. oops!). So there we are, the four of us standing in 98 degree humid corpus, and we HAD to find a pool. I was so sticky from the humidity- it felt like someone poured a bottle of Elmer's glue on me. Anyhoo, we drive around to different apartments, all of which had locked pools. Then after about 4 visited complexes we end up at one where there's this private party going on, but it was "over," leaving a few drunk people behind chillaxin... and none of them could speak English, so we couldn't really ask if we could come into the pool. So we just walked in like we lived there and jump into the pool. It was amazing. Lots of silent Marco Polo and practicing synchronized swimming. Then we came to my house at about 1 a.m. and had a snack fest before playing a huge round of NERTS (Amy you should remember that game).... Anyways, earlier Tygre and I had rented this scary movie called "Larva" because I was so intrigued by the cover. Image hosted by Photobucket.com (The line on the bottom says "A terror that goes under your skin".... hahhaha)But we didn't end up watching it because we were all so tired. Sleep came at about 3 a.m.
Then today after a great time of waffles and watching movies on TV with them, I was left alone to clean up a house before I go off to CAMP for a week. I have to get it all spick and span before Amers and Hizzle get here for the weekend I come back. So yeah.... I'm like really tired of cleaning, but atleast I'm earning my rent for August! Thanks mom!
All right... time to get stuff ready for church tomorrow. "Sunday morning church starts Saturday night!" -Author unknown (does anyone know who the original sayer of this was?). Shout out to ProGo peeps... holla a comment if you get to read this!
PEACE

Jus one uh them days that a girl goes through....

I'm sad for some reason. I think it's because the summer's coming to a close and I have no idea what lies ahead. Lots of decisions need to be made really soon, and I know that no matter what I chose, I'm going to be sad about something. *sigh*

More Pictures!

Well, I'm taking a break from reading Harry Potter to update with more pictures. Yay! Well, speaking of HP, I went with some friends down to Barnes and Noble to check out the party. The last time I went to that party they had tons of employees dressed up and acting and all sorts of life-size cardboard cutouts of Hermione and Harry and Ron, but this year I was sorely mistaken. There wasn't much to do at our party but gaze at the faithful freaks who dressed up themselves.

Here are the books being hauled out to the front! Image hosted by Photobucket.com What's all the ruckus about guarding the books and people having to sign afadavits saying they won't sell them early? It's so crazy how much the secrets of the book are guarded... but they're well worth it!

I found some cute snazzy witches chillin in an aisle. They didn't need to be asked twice to take a picture!

OK I don't know who the old guy is supposed to be, but the little boy claimed to be Harry himself! Judging by that blond hair of his, he's in denial that he is really (dun dun duuuun) MALFOY!!!! Someone needs to break it to him... Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Yeah.... Image hosted by Photobucket.com

We found Hagrid! I don't know why I'm making that face... or even how I ended up with Amy's shirt... seriously Amy, I didn't mean to take it!

CHACOS!
Image hosted by Photobucket.com Wow I need to touch up my toenail polish.

OK So the next day we were supposed to have this car wash to raise money for camp, and we told everyone to show up if it wasn't raining... (hurricane was causing lots of downpour). So about 5 minutes after everyone gets there it starts raining on and off, so of course nobody was going to get their cars washed. I suggested that we all go stand on the corners of Staples and Holly, one of the busiest intersections in Corpus, where the church is at, and yell for money when people stopped at the lights. Work it girls! Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Here's an action shot of Sarah running into the street for money! Image hosted by Photobucket.com A cop actually honked at us and told us to stay out of the street. What a horrible intern I am, putting their safety into danger!

Ahhhh... then the rain got so bad that we decided to call it a day. But before we went inside we had to take an in-the-rain-model-pic, naturally. Look at those kids.. they practiced those faces. Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I love this picture. My brother Matt is the best guitar player in the world. SHOUT OUT! Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Then I went with the Mendiolas to pick up Tigre from the airport after she was in Asia for 7 weeks. "Reunited and it feels so gooooood...." Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Action shot! On the escalator!!! Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Transition picture
Look at that face! She has the expression of a doggy model! Image hosted by Photobucket.com I giggle every time I look at that picture.

Flashback picture
I found this picture in one of those 1000 emails I was cleaning out. Holly sent it to me back in like November or something ridiculous. Here we are, the Pride/BSUers, Tim, Britt, and Jenny! Image hosted by Photobucket.com That game was really cold and rainy! And I remember us all getting penalized for throwing oranges on the field. Stupid spectators...

Welp, that's it! Holla if you enjoy the pictures!

Old Emails

I was looking through my OU email account and decided to clean it out after noticing that I had over 1000 emails in there from the past year. I found lots of fun things, like this old link to a funny video. Enjoy.

Emily!

One of the joys of living in South Texas during the summer is the huge liklihood for hurricanes. Well, the skies are dark... there's thunder and lightening... and Hurrican Emily is headed straight at us. It probably won't hit Corpus directly, but we'll sure get a huge chunk of the weather. Pray for us as we board up our windows and head out of town to San Antonio!

A Picture Post

More pictures and their cheesy narratives! The following are just "snapshots," if you will, of the things I experience this summer in Corpus and beyond. Sorry that they're so huge.. I really don't know how to make them smaller....

Jayme, Lesley, and I go swimming A LOT at Lesley's dad's apartments. We have to wait at the entrance and punch the little code in and wait for the gate to open, and each time I crack up at this sign. (If my profile stuff is in the way, the sign says "Do Not Challenge the Gate")
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Ohhhh I'm scared!

Dad and I play every Sunday night in the Corpus Christi Municipal Band. This year, we got shirts! So naturally I took a picture of them.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Wow, we look a lot alike in that picture. It must be our fake smiles.

Ahhhh July 4th. Independence Day. As usual, we sat outside for a while staring at the sky and watching the fireworks done illegally by the neighbors down the street. Then, being the patriots that we are, decided to wave the flag proudly, to honor the men and women who died for this nation.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Here's a closeup of the flaf-waver himself.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
I know, it's kind of scary.... but awesome all the same.

Then Jayme and I headed out to meet some friends to get some 'works for ourselves! It took us about half an hour to get out of the county for legal fireworking, but nevertheless the 20 or so of us found ourselves on some random Farm Road 10 minutes off the interstate and in the middle of a pitch black cornfield (which, we kept accidentally shooting fireworks into.. woops).
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Here's some close up firework-lighting action!
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Then, these guys (Steve and Kennan) kept lighting blackcats and throwing them at our feet and laughing as we ran away.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Later it was really funny, but at the time Jayme and I were scared.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Anyways.. twas a grand Independence Day. Here's Lucy!
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

As interns we have weekly meetings with the head honcho himself, Pete. We share, pray, strategize, ecourage each other, etc. I had to capture this moment of Cat sharing her heart.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Here's Dave and Pete finding answers in God's Word. Look at that discipleship in action! Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I love my 10th and 11th grade girls... even when they are *ahem* longhorns. Steph and I tend to battle it out t-shirt style.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Ahhhh slumber parties! Last weekend we all got together at Corries for a fab time. We ended up having some fun with whipped cream on the front lawn.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

We were trying to throw it in the air and have someone catch it in their mouths.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Then they mananged to pull a covert op and they all tackled me with their whipped cream! I felt loved..... even though I smelled like dairy product the rest of the night...Image hosted by Photobucket.com

AnneMarie and Sarah had fun with it too....
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

"Goin to tha HOOKS GAME!" Wow, this was a fun time at the ballpark. Corpus recently started like a triple A ball team, called the Hooks (like... fish hooks...) We won, 1 to 0. Remember to catch a memory! Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Action shot!
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

There's the Mascot! I don't know what his name is... but there's this other mascot guy named Rusty, who's a big silver fishing hook with a huge smile. I didn't get a picture of him though.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Then we crammed like 27 people in a van. I was in the front seat, so I took the picture. Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Anyhoo.. that's long enough. Hope you enjoyed it. If you did, COMMENT! Peace out!

This is a test post from Photobucket.com

I am the Dancing Queen!!!!!

OK, I want to update on some of my old critiques.

The Blockbuster movie pass is doing exceptionally well. Jayme and I have seen so many new releases that now we're moving into the old section. We saw "Life Of David Gale," with Kevin Spacey, Kate Winslet, Laura Linney, etc. This politically-inspired masterpiece about death row had me on the edge of my couch the entire way through. Kevin Spacey knows how to command a camera (where am I going with this?). I assure you, you'll love it and it's great twisted ending!
(Beware, there's a "scene" that we skipped past because... well, you know.. twas bad. Don't say I didn't warn you!)

We also got the Lizzie McGuire movie, which the Blockbuster employee announced loudly to the entire store. But it's OK. Image hosted by Photobucket.comSituations like that will only push me to make open to the public my insane love for Hilary Duff movies. And while we're on the subject, I own "Raise Your Voice"......... and I cried. Onto the next subject!

OK, remember the delicious HEB Potstickers? I sure do! So do Jayme and Lesley, because they had to experience the aftermath of it. So we're driving to the pool, and I had these potstickers like 3 hours before or something. I burped and tasted it in my mouth (sick out!). 10 seconds later they're yelling at me because they smelled it! And believe you me, my burps NEVER smell. I couldn't stop burping for about 2 hours. They even smelled one across the pool in the open air.Watch out, these potent potstickers will have you regretting every last soy-sauce-soaked morsel of goodness.

Image hosted by Photobucket.comI still really love Dr. Pepper more now! Add lime!

Surprisingly, I haven't been to Half Price Books all week! I'm kind of swamped in reading material though. I'm finishing Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (old school, I know!) and I want to read the 5th one before the 6th one comes out. So that's where all my reading attention's at! I'll have to venture out to full-priced places, like (dun dun dunnnn!) Barnes and Noble! Look out checkbook!Image hosted by Photobucket.com

And nowwwwwww... my mixes! They are coming along so well, thank you for asking! My dance mix is going to rock the face off of everyone until the end of time! I didn't just want it to be, pardon the term, club music, so I added some songs so that I can practice all sorts of dancing styles. It includes (so far.. I have to touch it up) Justin Timberlake (of course), Night Rider, Crazy in Love by Beyonce (this one I discovered was fun to dance to at the end of watching Brigitte Jones), Sing Sing Sing, In The Mood, Boom Boom (for cumbia), Dancing with Myself (80's), Montel Jordan's "This is How We Do It" (I got this one because it has an actual dance to go with it... it's way fun and reminds me of like high school homecoming dances), Boot Scootin Boogie, etc. I'm looking around for some latin music for to salsa. Other songs shall come along, but I'm really looking forward to this dance mix. My duplex will have a hoot of a time!

(Disclaimer: The following critique was written out of fatigue from watching a movie late into the night and getting up to work VBS 4 hours later and does not reflect specifically the beliefs of the blogger.)
OK. Now I shall add a new critique to this list. Today's topic will be about............... gas prices. I hear gas prices will raise to $3 a gallon soon.Image hosted by Photobucket.com Owning a monstrous gas guzzler, this is starting to take a toll on the bankroll. I thought to myself "Wow, I guess more people will start buying cars like Toyotas and Mini Coopers.... nay nay my friend! All these Richie Riches are going out and swiping Platinum for H2 HUMMERS Image hosted by Photobucket.com and other such huge cars, like we're defiantly slapping the face of whoever is making the prices go higher... like "Oh, you're going to raise prices? Well I'll just go buy a Batmobile that gets 4 miles to the gallon! There!" *stomps off* People are all like "The shedding of blood for the war on terror is really all about oil," so they don't want us to fight. Hellllllooooo.. they're picking their own fights by "fighting the system" and acting like gas prices aren't really bothering them. Meanwhile, they're working extra long hours and the office so they can make more money to fill up the tanks of their Guzzies, while conversely giving more money to taxes, which is paying for the war. THERE! I have solved it!!!!!

Pleasantly surprised

Well, this summer is nothing like I thought it would be. My original reason for coming home hasn't been the primary thing on my mind lately. I got the chance to be an intern with the youth group at Gardendale. You know how you always go into a situation with all these expectations and a way of doing things? Well, it never turns out like that. But thank the Lord. My time at this church has been absolutely AMAZING. God's really stretched me in a lot of areas. A lot of times I feel like I'm alone on things, but I blame some of that on my set way of doing things. But it's about flexibility. I wanted to spread vision, but I caught some. I wanted to make a difference, but I was changed. I wanted it to be a simple summer, but it's been one of the most complex times of my life. A lot of this stuff I can't explain here, just because it's sooo complicated. But everything I thought was going to happen here, did... just in a different way than I expected. The girls I've gotten to know are the greatest! I've seen so much growth in their lives over the summer. They really opened up their lives to me, and God blessed our relationships so much. I love hanging out with them and leading them in our Bible studies. The "Youth Staff" has been ridiculously fun. Pete, Ben, Dave, Matt, and Cat are so hilarious and have encouraged me so much. The families of this church are so different than when I remember them- they're servants and they love us so much. *sigh* I am so full.

Friends are friends forever.... if the Lord's the lord of them....

*sigh* I love getting those overseas email updates. My best friend Tygre will be home in, yes it's true, one week! Then Lindsay will be back the day after! I am overcome with emotion. It's crazy how much you can miss someone. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

A Critique of Daily Life for Jenny

Well, this summer has been full of many exciting things. Though I want my blog to be informative of all these things while at the same time fun to read, I cannot and will not just summarize my day. In its stead, I shall critiue the big aspects of my day. For example....

The Blockbuster movie pass Image hosted by Photobucket.com This thing is ingenius. No late fees, no hassles. You just get 2 movies, go watch them, keep them as long or as short as you want, then waltz back into the Buster and pick out 2 more. They scan in your old movies and scan out your new ones. You don't have to have a card or ID or anything. No questions asked. Simply amazing.

Because of this unlimited pass into the world of movies, I've seen a whole lot. I'm talking ATLEAST 30 movies have gone from the DVD to my brain, and I wish I'd kept a list of them. Anywho, I have to comment on this one movie I watched with Jayme and Matt (my usual movie-watching-with people). It's called Birth, and it stars Nicole Kidman. To sum it up: it's WEIRD. There's no other word for it. Basically this little 10 year old kid (who has these freaky blue eyes) finds Nicole's character and claims that he is her dead husband reincarnated. Image hosted by Photobucket.com He knows all these crazy details of their life. Anyway, she starts to believe him (oh and she's engaged to this new guy, which seriously complicates things). There are a couple of scenes where the "I'm uncomfortable!" alarm was sounding in my brain. Don't see it. Only rent it if you have the movie pass and are really desperate for a movie since you've seen all the other new releases.

Image hosted by Photobucket.comHEB Potstickers- These things are GOOD. I know there's no HEB anywhere else besides Texas, but I'm sure these things are good in general. You see, my brother Matt and I live off of frozen foods just because we really don't cook anything when my mom's working out of town. So amidst (is that a word?) the plethora of Hot Pockets, Pop Ice, tater tots, and ice cream, stands, alone and dignified, the HEB Potsticker. Easy to make and easy to eat, these tasty treats make for a great tuesday lunch. I'm eating them right now as I'm typing this. They make me feel all warm and fuzzy and cultural inside. Buy yours today in the frozen food section.

Diet Dr. Pepper
I'm starting to believe that this is surpassing my love for Diet Coke. I'm sorry Amy, I just can't deny my feelings for it. The battle for the fave diet drink begins, and I am torn between 2 solid opponents. Lord be with me.

Half-Price Books
I'm going to start a riot in Norman if we can't get one of these stores there. This is by far my favorite store in the entire world because it smells like "old" (like grandma's house), it has a cafe, and most importantly it houses thousands upon thousands of new and used books, CDs, movies, magazines, Image hosted by Photobucket.comthat are, you got it, HALF PRICE. I've bought atleast 10 books from there this summer. Hastings, eat your heart out.

And my final critique for the day-CDR's
I like CDRs not for ripping off CDs (which I used to do... back in the day) but for making great mixes of CDs. Finding your favorites and melding them together in one fine mix doesn't fail to give you a sense of accomplishment and also a sense of not-having-to-press-skip-to-the-next-song. Some of my favorites have been: Jen's Mellow Mix, including such songs as Sarah McLaughlin's "Angel," and Nora Jones' "Come Away with Me," making for a good turn-off-the-lights-to-your-dorm-and-sit-there-and-listen CD; Jen's LOVE songs/Amy's Process of Love, with Etta James' "At Last," Dave Matthews' "So Right," etc. My next mixes are going to be Jen's Driving in the Car Fun mix, with such songs as U2's "Beautiful Day" and LMNT's "Juliet". Then I'm making a dance mix with much Justin Timberlake and number 9 on one of Meg's CDs, hehehe.Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Van Dyck, OUT!

Ouch

I think I have an ear infection. Go me.
